A simple but cute sketch this week, and I love working with square cards so this was fun for me. I think this is my first ever CPS challenge and I really enjoyed taking part. Pop over to CPS to enter and you could win some Papertrey goodies!

I used stampin up! butterfly die with my big shot, gold mirror board, deckle edge card blank, button from stash and K&Co "Roam" papers - I love the colours in this collection.

Primary flowers

I made this card with inspiration taken from Kristina Werner's button card but used prima flowers with pearl centres instead of buttons and I used the three primary colours - red, blue and yellow as this is not a combination I have used before. I hope she won't mind me "borrowing" her idea, I just really love her designs and wanted to experiment with the layout.

I'm going to stop playing and get some work done now, lots of embellishment orders to get out but I'll be back later with some new cards as the postman just gave me some fab doodlebug alphabet candy shoppe cardstock stickers and I can't wait to try them out!

Butterfly Note Cards

A few little 4" x 3" note cards I made with the DCWV citrus papers, butterfly die cuts and buttons. These would be great for lots of occasions and they are super quick to make.

Loved Up!

Loving the basic grey bittersweet papers, I know they aren't new out but they are still some of my favourite patterns so I thought I'd play with them!

First up, a Valentine's day card, I used the basic grey alphabet stickers that go with these papers, some red grosgrain ribbon, a few self adhesive pearls and a simple 4" x 6" red card blank.

Along the same theme and mainly because I had some scraps left over I made a second card using some of the co-ordinating stickers in this kit.

Then I noticed these darling little flowers so I grabbed a couple of pink buttons and cut some leaves with my Sizzix and made this card. This is my favourite from the three, I think it looks kinda bohemian - ?

It's freezing today, started snowing about three hours ago but it is melting as soon as it hits the ground. Finished all my work for the day so thought I'd make a few cards but my camera died so I will share the rest with you later!

Image and sentiment are decoupaged toppers from the boutique range - not sure who makes these as can't seem to find a brand name on there but gotta love the chocolate element! Ribbon is grosgrain in chipmunk brown, patterned cardstock is basic grey bittersweet.

Wow, haven't posted since August last year! I don't know if it was because work was so busy or a lack of inspiration but from now on I'm gonna try to post at least once a week, got some new cards to show you, oh and happy new year everyone!

Wedding Fever!

One of the shops I supply with handmade cards asked me to make some Engagement and Wedding cards so here are a couple of designs - I mass produced these in an assembly line kind of way to get them out quickly. I think they turned out nicely.

I'm trying to keep busy this week as not seeing my beloved for a while as he has gone on a 'just boys' 4 day trip to a car show - I don't see the appeal myself, I'd much rather be... well... anywhere else I think!

Made a couple of cards in 5" x 7" as I haven't used this size before. I used Amy Butler leaf shape and sentiment, Basic Grey heart shape, white ribbon, 3mm pearls, and some Basic Grey and K & Co. patterned papers.

Delightful Daffodils

Got a lovely sheet of foiled and die cut card toppers. The sheet has four toppers, five sentiments and one gift tag. Made 3 very quick cards in about 15 minutes with some patterned papers, card blanks, ribbons and gems from stash. The sheet only cost £1.25 which works out only 31p per card! Although I didn't spend too much time or effort on these I still think they look quite luxurious. I think they'll be especially popular with older people due to the soft colours and the vintage style flower arrangements.

A Couple of Cards

For the first card, I was inspired by Carla, she is so talented and a great source of inspiration to me. Pop over to her blog to see her gorgeous handywork.

The second card started out as a pile of scrap paper offcuts and die cuts that I put to one side a few weeks ago, I often leave cards half-finished and come back to them with "fresh eyes" a while later. I found a chipboard embellishment in a box of bits and pieces and the rest of the card evolved from there. I am a bit addicted to butterflies with buttons on them at the moment!

...It wasn't flu, it was bronchitis! Nasty. Felling better now though and getting up to date on my orders. Bought a crap load of patterned paper to cheer me up so will be back in a while with some new cards.

... I have the flu! Tired, achy and feverish, it's not fair! I've had to cancel plans with friends and stay in bed feeling sorry for myself, no energy to make cards, I'm hoping I'll feel better in a couple of days, I need to, I've got work to do and orders to get out! I'm off to bed now... sniff sniff...

I got a new card making kit. It's called "La Perfumerie". Here is some of what I made with the kit, and I still have loads and loads of bits left over to make more cards with! I'm thinking about stocking these on my website so thought I'd try one out for myself first. I also used some of my own ribbons, patterned papers and pearls and gems.

...I have had little time to create recently and little inspiration so my blogging has taken a hit. I bought a custom die from ebay of four butterflies for £15 - I just had to have it! The die cuts measure about 2" which is a good size and everyone loves butterflies, right?

I made this card in tropical colours using making memories tropical cardstock 6" x 6" pad, big shot die cut branch w/leaves, a few prima flowers, turquoise button and vinyl letters from American Crafts.

3 Days Later...

...And I'm still feeling rough. I hate having a cold, my head feels so stuffy, my ears are all blocked up, my throat feels like a cheese grater and my nose is tickly and sore. Well that's quite enough moaning for one day.

I haven't found the pictures for it yet! I was just experimenting as I bought an album over a year ago and thought it was time to try some scrapbooking! It was quite a challenge working on such a large scale as 12" x 12" when I'm used to making cards but I got to use some of my massive prima flowers and loads of gems and pearls so I was happy!

That's all for today, I'm off to have dinner with my lovely man!

Feeling Rough

I woke up on Wednesday with a really sore throat and the sniffles so not feeling very crafty, just watching TV and mooching around. It's worse today but I had a very exciting delivery so it cheered me up a bit. The delivery man brought me loads of gorgeous new stock for my website including thousands of flat backed pearls. These are so beautiful, they just add the finishing touch to a card or scrapbook layout. Here are a few of the brand new colours!

I Don't Like Mondays...

...The weather yesterday was fantastic! The sun was shining all day, it was hot and there was hardly any breeze. I spent the day in a pub garden drinking pear cider with some family and friends. Today it is cloudy, dark, gloomy, wet and windy. I have spent the whole day stuck indoors packing up orders to post later on this evening.

Here is a card I made for my Auntie's birthday last week.

Materials used: American Crafts Thickers, Assorted patterned papers from DCWV, Handmade topper, ribbon from stash and my gems.

More note cards... I always make these when I have a spare half hour, am lacking inspiration or just want to make something useful, quick and easy.

Materials used: American Crafts Foam Thickers, Spotty paper and textured cardstock for base from DCWV. Pale green paper, mint satin ribbon and butterfly embellishment from stash.

A Few Quick and Easy Note Cards

Chocolate, baby blue and white is one of my favourite colour combos.

I made two of these but one got pinched by my Mum and sent to her Sister.

I started off with some lovely aqua blue textured cardstock from the DCWV Christmas Cardstock Stack for the base. I added a strip of patterned card from the DCWV Spring Glitter Stack - pale blue polka dots with a stripe of brown with glittered blue stars on it. I put 4mm white flat back pearls in the centre of each star. Pearls are from my website.

American Crafts Chipboard Thickers letters "HI" are from the 'Shoebox' set in blue and the "{ }" are from the 'Rootbeer Float' Foam Thickers set in white.

Finally, a scrap of 7mm powder blue satin ribbon is tied to one side to finish.

Burnt orange textured cardstock for the base from above mentioned DCWV Stack.

Orange background cardstock is from DCWV 'Pocket Full of Posies' Stack, Handcut scalloped edge from a scrap of brown card.

American Crafts Chipboard Thickers, Prima Flowers, my pearls and gems, stamped word "Fabulous!" in dark brown ink.

Cupcake Craft Challenge #36

Here is my take on the sketch. I used K&Company Amy Butler Faded China designer paper, an Amy Butler die cut sentiment also from the Faded China series and finished with some silver/grey ribbon, black ribbon and silver/grey ribbon roses.

I got lots of clear stamp sets for Christmas - I'm not very good at getting a perfect image so clear stamps for me are a MUST! I stand no chance with wooden blocked rubber ones. I also just bought a set of four Rock-a-Blocks by Crafters Companion as I saw them on TV, Ideal World I think and the presenter was promising perfect results every time and I must say I think I will do a lot more stamping now as they are great! If they work for me, they'll work for anyone!

One set of clear stamps I have is 'Asian Influences' by Inkadinkado. http://www.inkadinkado.com/

I am really into blue and green at the moment so I thought I would combine my new found stamping skills with my chosen colour combo (not especially oriental) and make a quick card.

The dragonfly is a stamp from another Inkadinkado set - 'Patterned Bugs'. I stamped it onto white card with turquoise and green inks and stuck little clear gems on it's body.

Leaf shape is from Amy Butler Faded China series. Tiny flower is from Prima, I added a marine blue gem to the centre.

Background cardstock is from DCWV 'Once upon a time' stack, which I stamped with the bamboo stamp in blue ink.

Lacy border was cut on my Cricut using SCAL. Image was found on the internet and made into an SVG file on Inkscape.

I added glitter to highlight the different elements on the card. Gems used are all from my website. http://www.katycards.co.uk/
