Christmas Cards

Today I made some cute Christmas cards with stamps I treated myself to from Clearly Besotted. I'd like to say what fantastic service I received from this company (they aren't paying me or giving me anything to say this!) Also, they are a UK company so postage within the UK is super quick, my orders have only taken 1-2 days to get to me! I wish I'd found them sooner!

Anyway.... on to the cards...

Set of Floral Cards

Today I made a set of three floral cards using stamps and inks from Papertrey ink.

I added a little strip of coloured cardstock and a strip of black cardstock to the left side of each card and wrapped some waxed cotton cord around before tying into a bow.

I added a few sequins and rhinestones to add a little sparkle.

Here's a close up of one of the cards:

#Happybirthday

For today's card I used an old sketch from pagemaps.com:

I've been itching to use the cute cameras 2 die-namics from My Favorite Things so started by die cutting the instagram style camera from white cardstock and colouring the different parts with alcohol markers before assembling.

How cute is this little camera?!

I used the colours from the camera to select scraps of patterned paper from my stash and die cut a tag and coloured it blue to match.

Next I printed a fun sentiment on my computer using 'Moon Flower' font.

I added a little black cord and some Doodlebug sequins to finish it off.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

1. Tie it up (use ribbon, twine or anything you can think of to add a knot of a bow to your creation) - at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Just for You

Hello! I have a cute card featuring a Stamping Bella stamp today. The stamp is called Bianca Loves Her Big Cake.

I paper pieced her dress and shaded it with Spectrum Noir pens to match the rest of my image (otherwise it would look as though it were floating and not part of the whole design).

I added glossy accents to the icing on the cake to make it shine like real frosting. Yum!

I couldn't resist adding sequins to this card as well as some flowers from iamroses.com.

Watercolour Eiffel Tower Card

Same kind of recipe as yesterday but changed up the main image to the Eiffel tower, swaped the sentiment and added a few butterflies and birds in the foliage.

While these cards do take longer to create than other styles of card (because of all the stamping and embossing to create the emboss resist technique when you add watercolour) they are so relaxing to make and very special as they are totally one of a kind.

Here you can see that I added glitter to parts of the leafy background to add interest.

The sentiment is so simple but really goes well with the theme of the card.

I'm entering this into the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge blog, which is 'Anything Goes'. You can enter here.

Watercolour Birdcage Card

Sorry I've been MIA for a week or so, had my other half at home for a couple of weeks so I've been spending quality time with him and making some home improvements.

I'm back today with a watercoloured card - a technique I love but am always a little frightened of!

I started by stamping each element with Versamark ink and coating in clear embossing powder before heat setting it with a heat tool.

The sentiment, one of my favourites, is from Papertrey ink, as are the birdcage and bird stamps. The flowers and leaves are from Altenew's Painted Flowers stamp set.

For the watercolouring itself, I used Tim Holtz distress inks in the mini cubes along with an aquabrush from Pentel.

I love how it turned out! Watercolour is pretty forgiving and the card you use makes a big difference. Here I used ranger watercolour cardstock. I added a little green glitter in and around the floral areas to add that finishing touch.
